Okay, that's hardly the most exciting way to begin a blog post, but hear me out - PLEASE?
So the usual advice people give to those with a passion to write (writers?), is to write about something you know. Something you LIKE. So I've decided to take that advice and turn it completely on its head.
"How?" I hear you ask...or type, whatever you are doing. Well, dear reader, I shall tell you.
Whoever knows me intimately will tell you that I love to learn new things and it is my personal belief that you can only truly learn things about a subject you never really liked in the first place.
"Nonsense." You say, furrowing your eyebrows, losing any respect you may have had for me.
In fact, I would agree with you in some part, however the angle I am coming in from is that, as a fan of a particular subject matter, such as Film or Football, you tend to wear rose tinted glasses and will hear nothing negative said about it. However, as a critic, you tend to look for the flaws and through conversation with people that truly love the subject matter, you can hear their perspective on it. Then, once you have picked up a number of different opinions, you can add your perspective and come up with an interesting and well rounded judgement tapestry.
Yes, it's a tapestry...
The aim here is to completely open my mind to things I have never:
A) Found remotely interesting
B) Been completely against, due to differing ethics or morals etc
Some of the subject matters I will be covering include (and this list is not exhaustive, as I will most probably come up with new ideas as the momentum builds...)
Some of the subject matters I will be covering include (and this list is not exhaustive, as I will most probably come up with new ideas as the momentum builds):
Hair & Beauty
Southampton History as told by my Dad (long story)
Being quarantined - life like for other normal people?
Any form of animal sports
So there we have it, my first foray into a new series called "The Stuff I Hate."
Pretty sure there will be videos included too, so apologies that you have to look at me as well as read my ramblings...
